The Team
Jean Mercille Eng., MGPPresident
Mertec is firstly Jean Mercille, a well known and recognized figure in the field due to his extensive experience in welding engineering.
Jean has a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering and a Master's Degree in Project Management. He is also accredited as an International Welding Engineer (IWE) by the International Institute of Welding (IIS/IIW).
Jean has over 30 years of experience in the field. During his career, he had the opportunity to weld with many welding process ranging from simple manual welding with coated electrodes to robotic welding and vision assisted mechanized welding.
He has worked for large companies such as Babcock & Wilcox International and Dominion Bridge to perform development projects linked to high technology welding applications.
Jean has also worked on several major construction projects abroad, including in Romania and China (construction of three nuclear power plants) and in New-Caledonia and Madagascar (mining complexes worth over $5 billion).
Furthermore, Jean's strength is not only in his technical skills. He is also a feeling person that puts great importance on interpersonal relationships. This strength permeates the way he has built his business by building close, human and sincere connections with his clients.

His technical training in welding, his extensive knowledge of European standards, his experience working at the Institute de Soudure (IS) in France and his hands on skills have consolidated the panoramic vision and welding expertise that Mertec brings to its clients.
